The search for a 28-year-old Virginia man who went missing after a boat was hit by a swell in North Carolina's Oregon Inlet Sunday morning was suspended, Coast Guard Cmdr. Billy Mitchell said.
Rescue crews, including a helicopter, had been searching since about 8:30 a.m. for Christopher Panchyshyn. He and two other passengers were ejected from the 26-foot boat when it was struck by a series of waves, Mitchell said.
The owner of the boat was able to turn around and recover the other two passengers.
Panchyshyn was not wearing a life jacket.
