Senator weighs in on boater outcry about inspections

New York Sen. Charles Schumer is calling on the Coast Guard to coordinate enforcement activities among various police agencies that patrol the Hudson River after an outcry from boaters that they're being stopped too often for safety inspections by different agencies.

Schumer called on the Coast Guard to devise a method by which other marine patrols can be notified when one of them stops a boat for inspection.

Boaters say that in the last five years, stops for inspections on the river have become excessive to the point where some people have been stopped three or four times a day by different departments.
