Shipyard to convert boat into hybrid ferry
Derecktor Shipyards in Bridgeport, Conn., is converting an existing vessel into what will be a hybrid-powered 600-passenger ferry for New York Harbor.
Hornblower Cruises and Events commissioned the multimillion-dollar vessel and an April launch is expected, according to a report in the Connecticut Post. The Hornblower Hybrid project calls for the vessel to use wind turbines, solar power, hydrogen and diesel fuel.
Derecktor recently launched the 203-foot megayacht Cakewalk featured on the cover of the December issue of Soundings.
