FORT LAUDERDALE — Simrad is debuting a multifunction navigation system today at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

“We’re debuting the Simrad NSO evo2 Glass Bridge System, composed of a new black box with dual independent processors for dual independent control,” Simrad spokesman Andrew Golden said. “And we have three new monitor sizes — 16-, 19- and 24-inch-wide multitouch displays.”

The NSO evo2 black box system supports plug-and-play performance modules such as full autopilot integration, FLIR thermal night vision systems, Broadband Radar, Broadband Sounder with CHIRP, StructureScan HD side-scan imaging, a SonicHub audio entertainment system and GoFree wireless Wi-Fi-1 technology, according to Simrad.

Available from Simrad dealers, beginning in November, the Simrad NSO evo2 black box system retails for $5,695, with MO-Series Multi-Touch and Pilot House displays ranging from $4,449 to $10,000. The NSO16 evo2 premium performance package includes the black box and two MO-16T high-bright, Multi-Touch monitors for $12,999, “providing the benefits of dual independent displays for the price of one,” Golden said.

The NSO evo2 also supports such cartography options as C-MAP MAX-N, Navionics Gold and Platinum, Nautic Insight and Lake Insight, Insight Genesis and other third-party products, as well as the ability to navigate using two chart types simultaneously, according to the company.

The system is on display at booth 322 at the Electronics Pavilion.
