Singer-songwriter’s former boat sinks

A 35-foot sportfishing yacht once owned by singer-songwriter Billy Joel sank in the early morning of April 25 near the dock where it had been moored at a Cos Cob, Conn., marina.

The custom-built vessel, which still bears the Piano Man-dubbed name of Sea Major, was found almost entirely submerged near a pier at the Riverscape Marina on River Road.

The yacht's current owner said he'd left the yacht docked at the Cos Cob marina to undergo repairs and inspections during the winter, and had been waiting for the first sunny day in spring to get behind the wheel.
