Small town, big boat show

Oriental Harbor Village Center and Marina, at the mouth of the Neuse River on the Intracoastal Waterway, held its first boat show and festival April 23 and 24 in North Carolina’s sailing capital.

The event attracted more than 3,000 boating enthusiasts, who strolled the new marina’s village center and docks, and inspected some 40 sail and power vessels. The show also featured marine exhibitors, bluegrass and beach music bands, coastal cooking, wine tastings and fishing demonstrations from area pros.

Plans are under way for a second show in 2005.
