Solar-powered vessel concludes 2013 voyage

The solar-powered vessel PlanetSolar ended its 2013 campaign Tuesday in Paris, near where the voyage began on April 8 in La Ciotat, France.

In successfully completing an unprecedented campaign of scientific measurements along the Gulf Stream in collaboration with the University of Geneva, the world's largest solar vessel has demonstrated throughout this journey that she could be used for practical purposes.

The ship sailed over 12,500 miles over the course of 156 days, raising the general public's awareness about climate issues and promoting solar energy at each stopover.
