Nick Schuyler, the former University of South Florida football player who was the lone survivor from a February fishing trip (covered in Soundings' May issue) that claimed the lives of three friends, gives an exclusive interview on HBO's "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel."

The HBO interview was scheduled to debut at 10 p.m. Tuesday, but will be rebroadcast several times during the month (check schedule). This is the first time Schuyler has spoken publicly about the fatal February fishing trip in the Gulf of Mexico that cost the lives of his best friend and former teammate, Will Bleakley, and former Tampa Bay Buccaneers Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith.

Because Schuyler became seasick on the trip, he was wearing a sweatshirt, pants, shoes, gloves and a hat when the boat overturned and that's what kept him from dying from hypothermia like the others.

But he says he still suffers survivor guilt and thinks about the incident "20 times a day."
