Superyacht owner struggles with slip space – all 536 feet

It is a problem familiar with families the world over – a bright sunny day during the school holidays, excited children, but nowhere to park. And now it has emerged that even Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich has to put up with such mundane inconveniences.

The 44-year-old tycoon wanted to dock Eclipse – at 536 feet, the largest yacht in the world – in the so-called 'Millionaires' Berth' on the French Riviera, where his moorings fee would be $1.6 million per week.

But the port authorities immediately said that they already had enough tycoons' boats moored up, and there was no possibility of them “squeezing Eclipse in” because it was “far too big.”
