Surfer suffers leg injuries in shark attack off Hawaii

Hawaii authorities say the second shark attack in the state in less than a week has left a 16-year-old surfer with several leg injuries.

"He was coming down the waves, and the shark came from the side and took him out by the legs," one witness, another teenage boy who said he was nearby in the water, told KHON.

The Hawaii County Fire Department said the boy suffered injuries on both legs after he was bitten by the estimated 10-foot shark on Sunday afternoon southeast of Hilo. He was airlifted to Hilo Medical Center for treatment.
