Stonington, Conn., sailor Lochlin Reidy, though gale-force winds and walls of water, struggled to stay alive for 28 hours in the Gulf Stream. Author Michael Tougias chronicled in his book "Overboard!"Reidy's harrowing tale of a trip to Bermuda that turned into a nightmare. Both will speak at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Stonington Harbor Yacht Club.

In May 2005, Reidy, an experienced sailor and veteran of 20 offshore passages to Bermuda, was swept overboard and separated from the crew of the 45-foot sailing vessel Almeisan, four days after departing Bridgeport.

Illustrated by Coast Guard videos and photos, Reidy and Tougias will detail the frightening and astonishing story of search, rescue and survival.

The lecture is open to the public. The club is located at 32 Water Street in Stonington.  Seating is limited. Please call for reservations at (860) 535-0112. There is a $10 charge for non-members.
