APRIL 7 — With friends and family looking on from the dock, a couple from Coopersville, Mich., with a shared passion for fishing, was married on a boat ramp wearing fishing gear.
William Nickel proposed to Vickie Wright about a year ago after introducing her to fishing, the News Advocate newspaper of Manistee, Mich., reported. The couple was married at the Tippy Dam boat launch and wore white flowers attached to their vests.
“I taught her how to fly fish,” Nickel says in the report. “She has been catching a lot more fish lately.”
While Nickel waited for the pastor to arrive for the ceremony, according to the report, he caught 10 small fish and threw them back. At Wright’s request he kissed one for good luck.
