Eighteen hours hanging on the side of a capsized boat in rough water has a way of bringing things into focus, said a 55-year-old survivor who endured the ordeal 20 miles off Florida's Gulf Coast this weekend.
"You think about what's important," he said Sunday, reached by phone in Tampa. "I thought about my wife and daughter, and what they mean to me."
The three men wore life jackets and hung onto ropes lashed to their overturned 23-foot boat. They talked to each other in the dark and fought off gulps of water.
