Three sailors rescued off Bermuda

Crewmembers aboard the Wellington Star work to rescue three people from a disabled French sailing yacht just after midnight Sunday about 600 nautical miles east-northeast of Bermuda.

Fifth District search-and-rescue coordinators in Portsmouth were able to guide the Wellington Star to the scene since the ship participates in the Automated Mutual-Assistance Vessel Rescue System. AMVER ships broadcast their position so rescue coordinators can divert the best-suited ship or ships to respond.
