Tom Brady’s New Boat
The G.O.A.T. got himself a boat.
According to TMZ Sports, NFL quarterback Tom Brady purchased a custom 55-foot yacht, and although in a photo he looks very happy about his purchase, not everybody is thrilled.
According to boatblurb.com the boat is a Wajer 55S. Brady took delivery of the Dutch-built metallic-blue 55-footer on Thursday at his local St. Petersburg marina. He named it Viva a Vida after his wife’s environmental organization.
Brady is married to Brazilian supermodel Giselle Bündchen. Her non-profit organization is planning to plant 200,000 trees in the Amazon rainforest, but New England Sports Network reported that Brady was getting torched on Twitter for the boat’s price and its name.
Some people took issue with the cost of the boat because Brady’s nutrition and athletic wellness company, TB12, Inc., received a nearly $1 million Paycheck Protection Program loan from the government during the Covid crisis. The boat reportedly cost about two million dollars.
“This is more than bad optics,” wrote @ScottDEggert on Twitter. “Tom Brady took nearly 1M in PPP loans, then buys a multi-million-dollar super boat.”
Others ripped the quarterback for naming a carbon-powered boat for an environmental organization. According to Majer’s website the 55 burns 34 gph of diesel at 25 knots.
“So, Tom Brady buys a gas guzzling super-boat and names it after an environmental group,” @DrPJSullivan posted. “15-yard penalty for sending mixed signals....”
The Majer 55 is powered by triple 480-hp Volvo Penta IPS 650 D6s and has a top speed of 40 knots.
If he wants to stop getting sacked by his critics, Brady may have to pull back on the throttles, or rename the boat.
