TowBoatU.S. has come to the “Queen of the American Lakes,” upstate New York’s Lake George.

TowBoatU.S. Lake George is based at the Lake Camping and Equipment Marina in Bolton Landing and owned by Wayne Smith, a Coast Guard licensed captain and lifelong Bolton Landing resident. Smith has provided on the water assistance to Lake George boaters for 18 years.

Unlike other towing services on the lake, TowBoatU.S. Lake George will tow a vessel to any boat ramp, marina or repair facility (within the 25-mile service area). “We let the boater make the decision who will fix their boat — not the other way around,” he said. The service also offers rental boats while the disabled boat is being repaired.

Boaters in need of towing assistance can reach TowBoatU.S. Lake George 24 hours a day, seven days a week by VHF radio on channel 16; by calling the port directly at (518) 644-9941; or through the BoatU.S. toll-free Dispatch Service, (800) 391-4869.
