Trailer boater makes a splash at launch

A man putting his boat into New Hampshire’s Merrimack River on Wednesday wound up losing his trailer and Chevy truck into the water as well.

The driver was backing up his 2004 Chevy SS modified pickup truck, worth more than $30,000, toward the river with a 1962 hydroplane boat that he just finished restoring on a trailer, he told the Nashua Telegraph.

The river’s strong current began pulling the boat downstream, so he put the truck in park and ran to the trailer, unhooked the small boat and pulled it to shore. As he was walking back to the boat, he heard a loud bang, and the truck – trailer and all – began rolling quickly into the water.
