Tribute paid to boating-accident victims

A close community of family and friends gathered at Barker Park in Pleasant View, Utah, to pay tribute to victims of a boating accident at Bear Lake that took four lives. 

Dr. Lance Capener, 45; Kelsey Capener, 13; Kilee Capener, 7; and Siera Hadley, 14; were confirmed dead by Logan Regional Hospital after their boat capsized at Bear Lake. Kathryn Capener, 42, Tiffany Stoker and Tylinn Tilley, both 14, were also involved in the accident and transported to the hospital.

The group was boating on Bear Lake on Monday when high winds capsized the ski boat sometime before 6 p.m.

The water was about 53 degrees Fahrenheit on Monday night and winds on the lake Monday night had gusted to 76 mph, churning up waves that reached 10 feet in height on the 112-square-mile lake that straddles the Utah-Idaho border, according to a report by The Salt Lake Tribune.
