Vessel contaminated with mustard gas is cleaned

A 145-foot clam digger fouled by mustard gas earlier this month, and Sea Watch International, the plant where it was moored and cleaned, are now both free of contamination.

The ESS Pursuit dredged up eight canisters June 6 off Long Island and one of the shells leaked mustard gas. A crewmember aboard the Pursuit was hospitalized after being exposed to the chemical.
