Victory parades for sports teams are a long-standing tradition. The latest of three Boston Red Sox World Series championships in a decade continues the Beantown twist of incorporating the Charles River into the procession.
The Red Sox celebrated its victory over the St. Louis Cardinals with a parade that saw the team roll through the streets of Boston aboard amphibious duck boats, then splash into the Charles for a ride.
Veteran pitcher Jake Peavy enjoyed the festivities so much that he reportedly bought one of the duck boats on the spot.
He tweeted: “Wow what a special day! Thank u all from the bottom of my heart! & yes the boat is now mine & hopefully in the family forever!”
