VIDEO: An orca-strated show

For 20th wedding anniversaries, it doesn’t get much better.

A Florida couple on a scuba diving vacation in La Paz, Mexico, to celebrate their milestone got an added treat and a video that quickly went viral when a pod of 20 killer whales started following their dive boat and playing in its wake.

Laura Howard recorded the encounter on a flip camera as she, husband Rich and others on the boat revel in the spectacle that at times came within touching distance from the boat.

"It was amazing to see them because they were 6 or 8 inches off the back of the boat. Every time they'd come up for a breath of air, they'd spray you," Rich Howard told WFLA News.

"They were spinning, jumping," Laura Howard said. "One of them really stuck with us the longest and would flip on [its] side and literally look up at me."

The couple said they were told the pod has been spotted several times in the past decade, but no one remembers them playing in the wake of a boat.

Killer whales, or orcas, are the largest member of the dolphin family and grow from 23 to 32 feet and weigh as much as 6 tons, according to National Geographic.
