The winter storm cycle for much of the country has left us feeling as if we’re stuck in the movie “Groundhog Day,” with none of the fun of Bill Murray’s company to leaven these gray days. One storm finishes and another one begins.
Cabin fever has set in, and it persuades folks to do silly things. YouTube is loaded with videos of people sledding in canoes, but we liked this vintage clip of “budding schoolmarms” from Plymouth Teachers College in New Hampshire who claimed to have invented the “canoe slalom” in 1954. Just goes to show there’s nothing new under the sun — or gray sky.
