In case you missed this clip, which exploded on the Internet during the long July 4 holiday weekend, here’s another chance.
Capt. Ben Chancey, who runs Chew On This Fishing Charters out of Cape Coral, Fla., was recently fishing for grouper from a kayak when several bull sharks appeared and he managed to hook an 8-plus-footer.
What ensued was a struggle worthy of “The Old Man and the Sea.”
Chancey posted the video on his YouTube channel and viewers came with comments both positive and negative. When one commenter wondered whether Chancey realized that his clip drew more “thumbs down” than “thumbs up,” his reply was to the point.
“What I actually noticed is the nearly 1.8 million views in a few days and every news agency I know knocking down our doors to do interviews,” his comment read.
The clip had drawn more than 2.4 million views as of Thursday. And yes, the shark was released, Chancey said.
