VIDEO: Depth charger

They look cute and lovable, but hippopotamuses are by nature very aggressive and are widely considered to be among the most dangerous large animals in Africa.

As evidence, this recent video offers frightening footage of an adult hippo charging a boat in Africa. The speed at which it swims underwater toward the boat is remarkable.

Hippos are notoriously dangerous and kill more people every year than any other large animal in Africa.

Last November, a hippo killed 13 people, including 12 children, by capsizing a boat in Niger.

The recent video was captured by Craig Clive Jackson aboard a Pangolin Photo Safaris tour boat at Chobe National Park in northern Botswana.

The video was posted by Michael Varndell, who runs the safari tour company, on his Facebook page. As of this morning, it had more than 400,000 views.
