It’s a pleasant scene in any port: A boater shuttles across the harbor in an inflatable tender with a faithful dog as crewmate.
Unfortunately, dogs can’t handle an outboard throttle, as seen in this video from Australia. The owner falls overboard, leaving his canine companion helplessly watching the world whirl by as the tender spins in circles.
The black dog waited patiently as the boat did “donuts” in the water, near Townsville, in Queensland, and his owner swam for help, according to a report by The Daily Mail.
A man on a personal watercraft and a fellow boater approach, but cannot get close enough to the runaway tender.
Although the video doesn’t show it, the newspaper reports that the owner swam to shore and returned with help, so the story has a happy ending.
