A good Samaritan rescued eight people last Saturday who were aboard a sinking 48-foot sportfishing boat, Always Late, 55 miles east of Cape May, N.J.
Four boats responded to a call for assistance after the Coast Guard received a call reporting a boat was taking on water and the crew needed help.

Good Samaritans aboard the sportfishing boat Marli rescued seven of the crew members; an eighth crewmember remained on board to try and salvage the sinking boat.
A rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., lowered a rescue swimmer with a pump but the rescue swimmer and crewman were unable to control the flooding. They had to abandon the boat, and Marli's crew rescued the remaining crew member.
