We’ve all seen the America’s Cup wingsail catamarans and their revolutionary (and expensive) foils, which lift the hull out of the water under some conditions, leading to extreme boat speeds.
Now we’ve seen it all with this budget model — a pedal-powered hydrofoil.
We understand it’s a prototype, but the two-man crew can certainly maneuver it through a crowded anchorage. As it turns out, they are not alone.
There is an entire website dedicated to human-powered hydrofoils, some of which are more practical and functional than others, but for the primal rush of high-speed foiling it’s hard to beat an AC72 (America’s Cup 72 class) flying over the water.
