VIDEO: Hot rods on foils

The Phantom Project was launched in 2010 by the French company Sail Innovation with one purpose in mind: to create the finest, fastest racing sail catamarans.

The result was the Flying Phantom, which has “L” foils and “T” rudders that lift the hulls off the water at high speed.

Rock star sailors have clamored for a turn at driving the sailing hot rods, but during Eurocat — the epic catamaran regatta held each May in Carnac, France — three teenage sailors tried their hand at foiling for the first time.

If you’re not sure whether they had fun, wait for 13-year-old Henri’s smiling assessment of the experience.
