Boaters in the Northeast continue their long slog through an especially unforgiving winter, dreaming of a warm boating season that still seems far over the horizon.
Marine photographer Onne van der Wal must have been feeling that sense of yearning when he recently took his video camera to the waterfront of Jamestown, Rhode Island, during yet another howling snowstorm.
“On the day I took these clips both bridges were closed and we were not allowed to be on the roads with our cars, so we walked everywhere,” van der Wal notes on the short video he posted on Vimeo.
“The breeze was on at 35 to 60 knots and temps in the -10C range. It’s been one helluva winter so far and it ain’t over yet,” he said.
