VIDEO: Launching a supercat

We've all launched our share of boats - or had the yard do it for us if it's too big to trailer. But launching the oversized sailing catamaran Ipharra took a massive floating crane and three hours of work by a team of experts. This was definitely not your average "back her down a little more" operation.

The entire Sunreef Yachts team was on hand April 15 when the builder splashed the Sunreef 102 Double Deck, its first superyacht and the world's second-largest sloop catamaran, according to the company.

The operation started at 11 a.m., when the floating crane arrived at the Sunreef docks in Gdansk, Poland. Ipharra was lifted and launched by 2 p.m.

Official delivery is set for mid-May, and the yard is currently working to install the mast and boom. Ipharra will sail to the Mediterranean where she will be available for charter, according to Sunreef.
