A five-member fishing crew was lifted to safety from a sinking boat off the coast of Scotland in the North Sea by a coastal rescue team.
Dramatic footage shows Maritime and Coastguard Agency rescuers winching the fishermen to safety as their 78-foot, Irish-registered trawler continues to sink.
In a video released by the coastguard, a few members of the crew can be seen standing on the side of the Luda Naofa after it took on water and turned over.
Three of the crewmen were airlifted to Western Isles Hospital, where they were treated for mild hypothermia. The others were airlifted to the nearby trawler Star Of Hope.
“The weather conditions on scene were very rough seas, with southerly force 6 winds,” coastguard duty watch manager Paul Tunstall told the Daily Record. “Evacuating the five crew swiftly and safely before the vessel went down was a great achievement.”
