VIDEO: Running with the wind

Here’s one for the sailors.

This short video puts the viewer onboard the Sun Fast 3600 YOLO as Jean-Francois de Premorel and Phillipe Laperche race the first leg of the double-handed class in the Transquadra Race.

Only amateur sailors can compete in the race from St. Nazaire, France, to the Portuguese archipelago of Madeira. After a delay for weather, the longer second leg starts in Madeira at the end of January and finishes in Martinique.

YOLO finished second in the double-handed class, only 14 minutes behind the leader after seven days of racing.

“The Sun Fast 3600 proved incredibly stable and powerful in strong winds, and we were able to keep the spinnaker and mainsail under full sail at above 40 knots of wind. Nothing broke, and we had very good camaraderie aboard, which made for a beautiful first leg of the race!” skipper de Premorel said.
