Dozier’s Waterway Guide, the series of navigational and local interest publications for cruisers and boaters, was sold to Richmond, Va.-based Jeff and Kathryn Jones.
Immediate plans are to enlarge and update the content of the publications, revise the website and mature its mobile platforms. Integrating content into navigational software is under development.
The company expects to release details of new efforts in the second quarter this year.
“Our acquisition of the company is one of the highlights of my career,” Jeff Jones, president of Waterway Guide Media LLC and publisher of Dozier’s Waterway Guide, said in a statement. “Combining my lifelong love of boating with communications and marketing within the marine industry is a great opportunity. To be associated with Jack and Craig Dozier and the folks at the Waterway Guide is a privilege that Kathryn and I are already enjoying.”
Waterway Guide publishes six cruising guides annually that provide navigation and marina information for five geographic regions of the United States and the Bahamas. The Waterway Guide website offers additional data from its network of marinas, writers, cruisers and boaters, as well as real-time updates from the U.S. Coast Guard Notice to Mariners.

Published since 1947, Waterway Guides contain more than 3,000 pages of content and mile-by-mile navigation information for the Great Lakes, including the Great Loop Cruise; the northern U.S. Atlantic coast; Chesapeake Bay; the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway; the southern U.S. Atlantic coast and the Gulf of Mexico; and the Bahamas.
The website, newsletter to subscribers, Waterway Guide magazine and Skipper Bob Publications are also part of the publishing enterprise.
Content includes up-to-date news on navigation, trends in the boating industry, marina close-ups and topics of interest to cruisers, boaters and captains who ply American and Bahamian waterways.
