The dinghy builder launches new lines of performance RIBs and inflatables

Walker Bay Boats of Union Gap, Wash., known for its dinghies and tenders, is expanding its fleet to include new lines of performance RIBs and inflatables.

The two new lines, Genesis RIBs and Odyssey inflatables, comprise 21 models from around 8 to 11 feet, and expand Walker Bay’s total number to 32. The RIBs and inflatables include such features as high-impact composite hulls, removable tubes for easy repair, and a design that is “quick to plane with unbelievable cornering performance,” the company says. The boats are said to plane in less than three seconds, and reach speeds as high as 21 mph.

“We set out to create a boat that would stand out from the rest and offer the consumer more reasons to choose Genesis and Odyssey over other inflatable boats in this category,” says Walker Bay marketing manager Michael Carroll. “We saw a new product opportunity in a market that has not produced anything substantially different for quite some time. We felt that, with our experienced team and philosophy, we could really create something special that had not been offered before.”

Carroll says there are three reasons boaters will want to own a Genesis or Odyssey. “Firstly, because of the design of the lightweight durable composite hull and trim tabs, the boat is an excellent performer, optimizing planing performance and maneuverability,” he says. “Secondly, because of the value. Our boats are always competitively priced with high-end features and are aesthetically pleasing. Thirdly, we love features that are both innovative and offer comfort … two wheels in the hull so one person can easily roll it down the boat ramp, telescopic Hydro curve oars that stow out of the way, and a non-skid floor with drainage slats that can also be used for strapping down gear.”

Walker Bay was to introduce the boats Nov. 15 at the Marine Equipment Trade Show in the Netherlands. The company will premiere the new lines in the United States at a special media conference Dec. 3 to 7 at the Sanibel Harbour Resort in Fort Myers, Fla.

The Genesis RIB models are priced from $1,749 to $3,799, the Odyssey inflatables from $999 to $2,199. The company plans to begin shipping Genesis and Odyssey boats in January.
