Web site explores Florida by water

Florida By Water has released a new Web site that will change the way boaters plan their time on the water, listing more than 1,500 locations that are all accessible by boat.

In order to create an easy-to-use navigational structure, the locations are broken down by city and specified categories. Categories include boat ramps, restaurants, marinas, hotels, campgrounds and day trips. Each destination provides GPS coordinates, a picture of the location, address, phone numbers, a link to the destination site, plus a brief description. Users have the ability to vote on the destination as well as add comments.

The Web site took more than a year and half to create because of the fact that each destination had to be researched, verified and entered by hand. The listings are provided free of charge to any location that is accessible by water.

Rusty Gardner, the founder of Florida By Water and avid boater, states that he was surprised to find that there are no other Web sites in Florida that offer this type of information in a comprehensive format. His main objective for creating the site is to allow boaters to spend less time searching for locations and more time enjoying them. The site also includes other information that is essential to the boating lifestyle such as weather and tide data, city information (provided by the Chambers of Commerce as well as Convention and Visitors Bureau) a boater's blog, forums, news feeds, events listing, a trip planner and even tropical drink recipes.
