No engines, freezing waterways, fatigue, whirlpools, bears, 15-knot currents and gale force winds make the Race to Alaska one of the most challenging races on earth. From Port Townsend, Washington to Ketchikan, Alaska participants travel 750 miles using just wind and human power.

The reward? First prize receives $10,000. Second prize… a set of steak knives.

The documentary directed by Zach Carver, a Seattle native, follows the stories of those who are up for the challenge. From high schoolers to Olympians and an all-female team, competitors that take on this race push the limits of what athletes can take.
