Designed by John Alden, Zaida was launched as a cutter from the Henry Nevins Yard in New York City back in 1937. Shortly thereafter, the 65-foot (LOA) wooden beauty was converted to a yawl. During World War II, she served as an anti-submarine patrol boat that inspired the non-fiction book, The Navy Hunts the CGR3070. Today, she is seaworthy but needs a new caretaker to carry the torch.
